I am a multifaceted cellist who plays music from Bach to Hip Hop. I teach in Calgary and have my own recording studio. I hold a master’s degree in music from the San Francisco Conservatory.

Lessons

Cello Lessons

I live in downtown Calgary. Underground heated guest parking is available. You may also choose to learn from your home wherever that might be through Skype. You can record your lessons for later reference. I can help you get it setup. I offer half hour and hour lessons. I offer free half hour introductory lessons.

Your Musical Development

Often substantial progress may come through small changes in the way we play. Preparing for weekly lessons with a teacher promotes daily practice. A teacher can guide your efforts, offering you a foundation of solid technique.

Practice

We achieve progress through small daily improvements. They add up and consistency is important so find a time of the day that is protected. Perfectionism can be self defeating. Don't get blocked by something you think could be better. A software app like Modacity on your cellphone can guide you to make the most of your daily practice.

Listen

We can become better musicians by listening to others; and not just other cellists. Listen to singers too.

Perform

We have all been through this. We stand before our audience; place our music which we have been practicing everyday for the past six months on our music stand; look out at our audience; look down at our music and we could swear we've never seen this music before. Play for others at every opportunity. We develop confidence every time we perform.

Studio Recording

I have my own recording studio built around a MacBook Pro, UA Apollo Twin MK2, Neumann condenser microphone and room treatments. I collaborate with other musicians locally and internationally. Listen to my recordings. Contact me to discuss what you are looking for.
